Bachchan says media misrepresented his gun comment

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has said that the media misrepresented the remark on his blog about having slept with a gun under his pillow when the Mumbai terror attacks took place.“It is a pity that the 'intellectual media' portrays the incident of the gun under my pillow as one of ridicule and mirth... Of one that reflects a fear on my part…It is a shame that the mettle of my comment was not put across in the context of its entirety, thereby bisecting the thought and making it weak,” The actor, 66, further wrote that his action of pulling out his “.32 revolver” was “out of fear”.“The act of pulling out my revolver is a symbolic metaphor, a figure of speech, to demonstrate my complete loss in faith in the system and in the governance, in providing me - a citizen of India, with my rightful sense of security," he said.
“It is to demonstrate that now I shall have to personally look after my family and myself and not depend on the state…that is just so miserably incapable of protecting its citizens,” the blog further read...

I am not going to leave my country: Big B
"I was to be in Hong Kong at the invitation of ex-President Bill Clinton to partake in his Clinton Global Initiative and speak on a topic that would elevate the conditions of our universe. I cancelled. I am NOT going to leave my country in this troubled hour to travel to a foreign land to lend cause to a foreign initiative, patronized and guided by a foreigner, for his benefit!!! I need to see initiative here in my country," wrote Amitabh Bachchan in his blog on Sunday.

Amitabh Bachchan: Question hour

Amitabh Bachchan is not hailed as an iconic actor for nothing. After his recent illness, which the media blew out of proportion, Big B is back in the saddle, juggling his blogging passion, interviews and film commitments with enviable ease. In an interview with Screen, he puts news about AB Corp, the hysteria over his illness, political experience and the likelihood of coming together with the Gandhis in perspective. This whole arithmetic of speculation about the crores riding on your films etc -do you think such speculation is unfair and unwarranted?
Pardon my saying so, but this is a famous and constant refrain instigated and initiated by the media. I do not claim to possess sufficient media guile to assess why the media does so. They would know best. I can merely conjecture what the reason is. I would happily divulge. But knowing the very committed but completely erroneous belief by the media on my bias against it, I would rather keep it to myself.
